Mentoring skills
A joint RCVS and BVA survey found that only half of veterinary surgeons who had graduated during the previous eight years felt that their career matched expectations and one in 10 were considering leaving the profession entirely. The BSAVA launched a pilot mentorship programme to help those in the early stages of their career to fulfil their potential and enjoy their work. This collection brings together resources from BSAVA publications that may assist with your professional and personal development.

‘World Spay Day’ is celebrated on the final Tuesday of February each year. Non-traditional companion animals
Ownership of non-traditional companion animals (a term preferred to 'exotic pets' by BSAVA, along with the BVA and BVZS) continues to rise and these species often present challenges in practice. This collection is intended to signpost some core resources on species that may not be commonly seen by veterinarians to highlight what is possible in first opinion practice. This collection excludes wildlife, farm pets and the more common small mammals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, rats and mice.

Puppy socialisation
Socialising a puppy is a crucial part of his or her upbringing: dogs who, as puppies, are introduced correctly to a wide range of people, animals, sights, sounds, smells and experiences are more likely to behave appropriately and not be anxious or fearful. This collection brings together chapters, podcasts and leaflets covering the reasons behind the socialisation of puppies and how to do it successfully.
