Anaesthetic monitoring: what’s normal, what’s not, and what can I do about it? Part one
BSAVA Webinar LibraryAuthor Claire WoolfordMonitoring the anaesthetised patient is absolutely vital to ensure their safety. This is the first of a two part lecture for vets and veterinary nurses that shows you what is normal and what is not when monitoring a patient under anaesthesia and what you can do to correct it. The lectures will help you understand how to recognise normal and abnormal waveforms for capnography, recognise normal and abnormal ECGs, improve your knowledge of pulse oximetry, and have a better understanding of how pain can effect anaesthesia. Claire Woolford is a head nurse at Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists; she achieved her VTS (Veterinary Technician Specialist) status in Anaesthesia and Analgesia in 2013, and is a member of the AVTAA Credentials Committee. Claire have provided lectures on anaesthesia and surgical nursing at local and national conferences. These recordings replace the Southern Region meeting originally scheduled for 20th May 2020. Please note that the lecture recording and accompanying notes are as provided and have not been edited. Regions Now: An Update on Imported Diseases
BSAVA Webinar LibraryAuthor Ian WrightIncreased importation of pets in the face of expanding global parasite distributions is increasing the risk of pets infected with exotic parasites entering the UK. Rapid recognition of clinical signs, effective use of preventative treatments and screening tests in imported dogs are vital, both to improve prognostic outcomes for infected dogs and limit parasite spread and zoonotic risk. Information on the parasite’s likely to be encountered and available tests is changing rapidly. This course will summarise the most common parasitic diseases seen in imported dogs and the pathogens that cause them. Updates on diagnostic and treatment options will be given. The evening will include a series of interactive cases so you can pit your wits against the exotic pathogens recently see in UK practice!
