Ticks and tick-borne diseases
Tick-borne disease has long been a risk to pets and human populations. Whilst there are only two tick-borne diseases currently considered endemic in the UK, the increase in dogs being imported into the UK, as well as the changing climate, brings a risk of non-endemic tick-borne diseases becoming endemic, creating new challenges for vets. This collection brings together resources on ticks and tick-borne diseases. In addition, the BSAVA has a Q&A for pet owners, which has been written for vets to pass on to their clients, available here.

A new study, published in the September 2020 issue of the Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP), assessed the utility of the urine dipstick alone and combined with the urine-specific gravity (USG) for detecting proteinuria in cats. The urine dipstick was not accurate for detecting proteinuria alone, or when combined with the USG in cats. This short collection brings together additional BSAVA resources focusing on urinalysis and proteinuria in cats.
