Abstract

This chapter discusses the interplay of renal function with endocrine disease, including thyroid and adrenal disease, diabetes mellitus, primary hyperparathyroidism and growth hormone disorders. It explores how endocrine diseases can cause or exacerbate renal damage and complicate the diagnosis of concurrent kidney disease and vice versa. The chapter covers the mechanisms of disease as well as the practical adjustments necessary in cases with concurrent disease.
