Regions Now: Pandemic Puppies
BSAVA Webinar LibraryThis session will use recent research on the ‘Pandemic Puppy’ phenomenon in the UK to update veterinary practitioners on how changes in the breeding, selling and early lives of puppies during the pandemic are impacting this vulnerable generation of dogs.
Drawing from novel data generated in a longitudinal cohort study of this population, we will explore the health, behaviour and dog-owner bond of these now adult dogs and their caregivers and anticipate their current and future needs and challenges.
This will be followed by an interactive session exploring how illegal and unscrupulous puppy breeders and/or dealers can deceive prospective puppy buyers, including selling underage, illegally imported puppies – a growing section of the UK market. Finally, we will consider how best to educate your clients to protect them from supporting Europe’s illegal puppy trade.
