The ‘EPIC’ phenomenon Author Liz BodeLiz Bode, together with collaborators David Singleton and Hannah Hodgkiss-Geere from the University of Liverpool and Melanie Hezzell from the University of Bristol, has been awarded joint PetSavers and Veterinary Cardiovascular Society funding to investigate the use of pimobendan in primary veterinary practice in the United Kingdom. Data will be collated from the Small Animal Surveillance Network (SAVSNET), of which David is a key member. Liz, Hannah and Melanie bring cardiovascular specialism to the team and Melanie has previous experience of collating N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) data from SAVSNET.

Extraction of fractured root tips in dogs and cats Author Matthew OxfordMatthew Oxford is one of only a handful of veterinary dentists in the UK and established the New Forest Veterinary Dental Service in 2011 to provide a service for referral veterinary dental and oral surgery procedures for other veterinary practices. He has written this short article to offer a pragmatic approach to the extraction of root fragments and, especially in the case of iatrogenic root fractures, this approach is useful to mitigate some of the stress of the procedure.
