The 42nd World WSAVA Congress and the 23rd FECAVA Eurocongress was hosted by the DSAVA in Copenhagen from 25–28 September. There was an in-depth look at animal health related to responsible breeding, in particular brachycephalic syndrome. One of the headline Congress events was the launch of the first global guidelines for veterinary dentistry.

For more than a decade, the Links Group has called for greater efforts to tackle domestic violence directed at both human and animal family members. Increasing recognition of the correlation between the abuse of pets and the abuse of people is contributing to the message at last getting through to the highest levels of government, at least in one corner of the UK.

Joanne Brewin was the recipient of a PetSavers Bursary which helped fund her laboratory-based research project during her third year as a vet student at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nottingham.
