 A 3-year-old cat presented with a wound in the right axilia that had been sutured twice previously but had dehisced on both occasions. An investigation of the cause and the treatment are described.

 A 5-month-old female Cocker Spaniel presented with a 4 week history of regurgitation. Fluoroscopy led to a diagnosis of cricopharyngeal achalasia which was successfully treated with surgery.

  An 8-year-old Whippet presented with progressive pelvic limb lameness of 6 months duration. Six weeks prior to this referral the Whippet had been treated for proteinuria, and previous history included a seroma 7 months ago on the left pelvic limb at the site of an earlier arthrodesis.

 A 3-year-old Standard Poodle had a 2-year history of intermittent stranguria and pollakiuria. Diagnosis, treatment and outcome are discussed.

 A 10-year-old Samoyed presented with abdominal distension of 5 days’ duration. Portal vein thrombosis was diagnosed and the process of diagnosis and treatment is discussed.

 A 2-year-old Boxer presented with tachycardia and a heart murmur following a period of illness and a previous presentation with a pyometra that led to a ovariohysterectomy. The diagnosis and progression of the underlying condition is described.

  A 7-year-old female Labrador Retriever presented as an emergency with sudden-onset collapse and jaundice. Chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis were diagnosed and treatment was attempted.

  A 7-year-old Labrador presented with a 3 month history of lameness affecting the left hind limb, bilateral hind limb lameness and episodes of acute-onset collapse. Diagnosis and treatment of a thrombus and protein-losing nephropathy are described.

  A 17-month-old Lhasa Apso presented for investigation of pancytopenia. Diagnosis of the cause and the subsequent management of the patient are described.

A 6-year-old Collie cross presented with pyrexia of unknown origin. She had been treated with antibiotics without response. Diagnosis and treatment of idiopathic IMPA are discussed.

A 9-year-old German Shepherd bitch was referred with a 1 week history of lethargy, reluctance to lie down, cough, dyspnoea, retching and vomiting. The diagnosis of a heart base mass using radiography and CT scans following routine blood testing is described.

A 4-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat presented with a 48 hour history of dyspnoea and anorexia. There were marked oral lesions. An enterectomy had been performed 2 years previously. Symptoms, diagnosis and treatment are described.

An 8-year-old Labrador Retriever presented with a 24 hour history of lethargy and inappetance. The faeces were dark, and weight loss had been detected over previous months. Meloxicam had been given 3 days prior to presentation following an injury to the tail. The diagnosis and treatment of IBD are described.

A 9-year-old Cocker Spaniel presented with a history of ptyalism and hallitosis. Hair loss and skin lesions were also reported. A diagnosis of mycosis fungoides followed tests and biopsy, with the skin lesions proving to be unexpectedly significant.

An adult male swan is presented by a wildlife rescue organisation with a fishing line trailing from its mouth. The procedure for removing the hook and line are described.
