Abstract
The legal provisions for 'cascade use' allows prescribing veterinary surgeons to ensure animal health and welfare where authorized veterinary medicines for the specific condition, target species, and territory are not available. This section describes the legislative background and how the cascade works in practice. Self-assessment questions are included along with a video.
Last updated August 2024 to reflect changes in the Veterinary Medicines Regulations (VMR). Changes are highlighted in blue in the PDF version.
