Oesophagostomy tube placement is indicated where nutritional support is required for a period of weeks to months.

This video shows how to place an oesophagostomy tube. Please note that, for filming purposes, this procedure was performed on a cadaver. Appropriate aseptic techniques should be employed when performing this procedure.
