Abstract
It is strongly advised that the DEA 1.1 status of both the donor and recipient dog is determined prior to transfusion. However, in an emergency, DEA 1.1 blood can be given to any dog. All donor and recipient cats must be blood typed prior to transfusion, even in an emergency situation.
