Every individual is the product of their genes and their environment. This chapter reviews the ways in which genetic variation can contribute to the risk of endocrine disease, the tools available to identify risk-associated genes and variants, and the endocrine conditions in dogs and cats for which some aspects of the genetic basis of risk are already understood.
