Guidance for authors
This page is intended to provide guidance for authors or those interested in submitting their work to BSAVA. If you have suggestions for developing this page, please contact [email protected]
Manuals and other books
BSAVA publishes a world-renowned series of manuals and other books. Although most of our books are commissioned by us, we welcome proposals for books that complement our existing programme. All proposals are subject to approval by the BSAVA Publications Committee. Contact the publications team with your ideas.
If you are an author seeking advice regarding a current BSAVA project, please contact your project lead or the publications team
Online resources
The resources in the BSAVA Library and on the BSAVA website provide extensive information relating to small animal veterinary practice. However, please contact us if you have ideas for additional digital resources that you feel would contribute to best veterinary practice.
Companion
Companion is BSAVA's monthly member magazine, containing CPD articles, features and news about the veterinary profession. Submissions are welcomed for the Clinical Conundrum feature. The aim of the Clinical Conundrum is to present a thought provoking case to the reader and allow in-depth discussion of the intricacies of the case presented. More information
Journal of Small Animal Practice
The Journal of Small Animal Practice (JSAP) is a monthly peer-reviewed publication covering all aspects of medicine and surgery relating to dogs, cats and other small animals. The journal welcomes submitted clinical research papers, reviews, viewpoints, images in small animal practice, and other articles. Please note that there is very limited space for the publication of traditional case reports - unless these are exceptionally unusual or contribute materially to the literature, you may wish to consider alternative options. Visit the JSAP home page for author guidelines and to submit a paper.
